Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Current Time Assam (“we”, “us”), run by Current Time Assam, collects when you read our news website, how it is used and the choices you have. By using the website you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

  • Reading the news. You do not need an account and we do not ask for your name or email to read anything.
  • Visitor count. To know how many people read the site each day, we store a one-way code made from the date, your IP address and browser type together with a secret value. The code cannot be turned back into your IP address, changes every day, and cannot be used to follow you from one day to the next. We never store your IP address for this.
  • Server logs. Like all websites, our hosting server records technical details of each request (IP address, browser type, page and time) in its logs, used only to keep the site secure and working.
  • Contacting us. If you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply or, for news tips, to follow up the story.

2. Cookies, advertising and local storage

Our news pages do not set cookies of their own.

We do not currently show advertising. If we start, this section will name the ad provider and explain its cookies and your choices before any ads appear.

Live broadcasts. Our live video is played from YouTube. The YouTube player only loads when you press play; YouTube (Google) may then set its own cookies under Google’s Privacy Policy.

If you install the website as an app or visit it often, your browser may keep a copy of pages and images on your device so they open faster and work offline. This stays on your device and you can clear it in your browser settings.

3. How information is shared

We do not sell or rent personal information. It is shared only with the services that run the website (our hosting provider and, where ads are shown, Google), or where the law requires it. When you use a Share button, the story’s link goes to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp or Facebook), whose own privacy policy then applies. Stories may link to other websites, whose privacy practices we do not control.

4. How long we keep it

Daily visitor codes are kept only as counts for our statistics. Emails are kept only as long as needed to answer them or follow up a story. Server logs are kept for a short period set by our hosting provider.

5. Security

The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and access to our newsroom admin area is protected. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.

6. Children

Our news is written for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. News sources

If you send us a news tip, we protect your identity as a source unless you agree otherwise or the law requires us to disclose it.

8. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to see, correct or delete personal information you have sent us. You can control cookies in your browser settings and personalised ads through the links above.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.

10. Contact

For any privacy question or request, reach us through our Contact page.
