Editorial standards

• Accuracy first. We confirm facts with official sources, documents or people involved before publishing, and say clearly when something is not yet confirmed.
• Fairness. We try to give everyone named in a story the chance to respond.
• Independence. Our news decisions are made by our editorial team. Advertisers and sponsors have no say in what we report.
• Corrections. When we get something wrong, we correct the story promptly. To report an error, use our Contact page.
